LEARNING...

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim – In the name of Allah The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful.

Yuk kita tukar persepsi pembelajaran kita. Aku belajar kerana ALLAH. Aku belajar kerana aku ingin menyumbang kepada masyarakat.

Passive learning

Occurs when students use their senses to take in information from a lecture, reading assignment, or audiovisual. This is the mode of learning most commonly present in classrooms. It is used to acquire ideas and information that is available for recall.

Advantages:

  • Can present a great deal of information in a short period of time.
  • Lecture notes, handouts, and audiovisual media can be selected and prepared in advance.
  • Controlled environment (faculty more comfortable).
  • Good for new faculty member or one who is teaching new content.
  • Students most often prefer this approach (they are used to this method of teaching).
  • Important concepts and content identified a concrete, organized, and meaningful manner.
  • Students have lower anxiety levels and feel more secure with this method.
Disadvantages:

  • Little opportunity to assess how well students are learning the content.
  • Little time for questions, clarification, or discussion.
  • Students may not feel comfortable letting faculty know that they do not understand key concepts, they are reluctant to ask questions in class, or they may not ask enough questions to clarify their misunderstandings.
  • Does not require consistent use of higher-level cognitive skills (no opportunity for application).
  • May become tedious and boring.

Active learning

Involves the student through participation and investment of energy in all three phases of the learning process (input, operations, and feedback). This type of learning is more apt to stimulate higher cognitive processes and critical thinking.

Advantages:

  • May increase critical thinking skills in students.
  • Enables students to show initiative.
  • Involves students by stimulating them to talk more.
  • Incorporates more student input and ideas.
  • Easier to assess student learning.
  • Better meets the needs of students with varying learning styles.
Disadvantages:

  • Faculty need to be expert in the content area.
  • May be difficult to organize active learning experiences.
  • Requires more time and energy and may be stressful for faculty.
  • Faculty may receive less favorable evaluations from students.
  • Students may be stressed because of the necessity to adapt to new ways of learning.

Perbetulkan niat, ingatlah orang tersayang.

Kalau anda berjaya, tentulah kedua ibu bapa kita gembira.
Yuk kita gembirakan mereka.

i'll stop here. Aku manusia biasa.

rajin betul saya update blog sejak kebelakangan ini.
jangan ketawakan saya ye...

sebelum terlupa, nak share satu doa.
Jom kita sama-sama amalkan...

DIA – RASULULLAH SAW

Jangan mengaku cintakan Rasulullah saw, andai sunnah baginda ditinggalkan.

Allahumma solli 'ala saiyyidina muhammad wa 'ala alihi wasohbihi wabaarik wasallim....

Jom teman, kita suburkan rasa cinta dan kasih pd Nabi...
Allahummasalli'ala Muhammad wa 'ala a-li Muhammad. :)

3 cara cinta Nabi: banyakkan selawat, dalami sirah hidup Nabi, jadikan Nabi qudwah hasanah.

yuk jadi OSEM person, not only academic but ilmu agama perlu penuh di dada untuk menjadi EXTRA-ORDINARY MUSLIM.

Semester 2 will begin tomorrow- 7th February 2012.

cerita tentang itu...

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim – In the name of Allah The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful.

Seperti yang dijanjikan, first of all, I’ll tell you about the overview of Audiology in IIUM Kuantan Campus.
Audiology by Syarifah Nur Aqilah Sayed Alwi

Department of Audiology And Speech Language Pathology is the one department in Kuliyyah of Allied Health Sciences. It frequently known as AUDIO and the students in this department will be known as AUDIO STUDENT. Once you step in this kuliyyah, you will find everything what being questioned in your mind.

In our Kuliyyah, there are 5 departments,
·         Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology
·         Department of Optometry and Visual Science (DOVS)
·         Department of Nutrition Sciences
·         Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy
·         Department of Biomedical Sciences

Before I explained about my course, please tell yourself why you choose Audiology? Whatever your reason, I hope you will say that you choose Audiology because of Allah. This is the first question that you will ask by lecturers once you enter the class. Be prepared with the answers soon.

First of all, let’s I tell you about this course in terms of history. The Bachelors of Audiology (Hons) is offered under this department starting the academic session of 2004/2005. So when you enter Kuantan in this department, you will be known as GEN9 of Audio Student, Batch 2012/2013. Actually as the first year student, I don’t have power to tell you about audiology as I also don’t have more knowledge in this course. As we are learner, we will know everything time to time.
There is only 3 IPTA that offered this course, UIA, UKM and UITM. For the IPTS, I didn’t know how much this course had offered in. You may check and do some research about this course later. As I know, mostly students of Audiology in UIA get the jobs, except students who stopped their career and get married. I want to tell you one interesting story, there is an interdepartment wedding; student 3rd year Audio and 4th year Opto. So sweet, right? Oppsss, back to our discussion…

As student of Audiology, they should know the objectives of their course. Soon, they will able to fulfil all the objectives according to UIA mission and vision.
The department offers undergraduate educational programmes that prepare undergraduates for professional and research careers in the profession of Audiology and Speech & Language Pathology.
The objectives of the Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology are:
1.        To produce quality graduates in Audiology who are competent in the prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation of hearing and balance disorders
2.      To nurture future audiologist with the ability to integrate faith (iman), knowledge (ilm) and good character (akhlak) in their life and audiology practice
3.      To contribute to the improvement and upgrading of the Audiology field in Malaysia
4.      To excel in research and publication towards the enhancement of Audiology field for beneficent of the ummah

Once you read these objectives, I hope you will more excite to be as AUDIO student. Before starting the lecture, you will meet your seniors and get a long brief on this course. You may ask more questions about what you don’t know.

For year 1 and year 2 students will learn more on theories. When they enter year 3, they will practise what they had learnt in year 1 and 2 in the hospital. So as my seniors said to me, please remember what had learnt in year 1 and year 2 as our lecturer will ask us when in clinical study. We will do clinical in the hospital in Pahang area in year 3. So you will know how an audiologist works.

As I had taken UNGS in CFS IIUM, so our schedule is not packed like my seniors. So you have more time to do many things, swimming, jogging, outing with your friends, going to talks, involving in societies and many mores. You will know later…

As I am 1st year student, I’m in the process of learning. 2 subjects that I take now, Language Development and Basic Linguistics, are very interesting and make open your eyes, ears and mouth. You will study about the language, sound of the alphabets, how language develops from the baby until adult, component of the language and many mores. These subjects are important for audiologists as they will practise what they studied in year 1 to their patients. Good news for all of you, if you are not good in Physics, you may choose audio as audio just only have little parts in physics whether than opto.

About the number of students in audio, audio is the least number of student that kuliyyah had. For 1st year, there are 16 students, 3 boys and 13 sisters. For 2nd year, there are 16 students. For 3rd year, there are 20 students. For 4th year, there are 15 students. Because of the number of student is less, the lecturer will remember your name and faces. So if you sleep in the class, the lecturer will remember you until the next semester. And the bad news for all of you, you will never escape the class as the lecturer will recognize student that absent on that day due to the least number of student. So please put away your niat to escape the class.

As the conclusion, kita merancang, Allah jua merancang. Kami, abang2 dan kakak2 di sini hanya memberi just a short brief about the course, tetapi yang menentukan adalah diri adik2 sendiri. Seek for the Allah’s pleasure and ask Him to give the answer if you don’t know what course you should take. All four courses in this kuliyyah have their own strength. Good luck in your interviews that will come soon and all the best.

TULISAN TANGAN YANG TAK SEBERAPA - butterflybuddy

(Diriwayatkan oleh al-Baihaqi dari A’isyah r.a.)

ISLAM is the only way of life.

InsyaAllah, untuk budak-budak Audiology, 5 department core courses will be taken.
Antaranya, Human Structure & Function 2, Anatomy, Pyhsiology and Neurology for Audiology, Acoustics for Audiology and Speech Sciences, Introduction to Phonetics and Basic Communication Disorders.

Belum ditambah University Required Courses lagi. Jadual sem depan lagi padat dari sem lepas. Semoga aku dapat adapt and adopt. I’m sorry; I should be a matured people after this…

Habis bercerita untuk semester depan, back to the memories of sem 1 with the lecturers and friends.
Bercerita tentang memori sem lepas, sangat laa banyak, apa-apapun saya tetap gembira kerana diberi peluang untuk belajar erti kehidupan.

Menyertai segala aktiviti, talks aka ceramah, society dan sebagainya memberi aku nilai-nilai yang berharga. Aku masih ingat sewaktu aku diletakkan di dalam unit Da’wah and Tarbiyyah Bureau, kami, 1st year diberi peluang untuk mengendalikan satu daripada program under Da’wah dan Tarbiyyah Bureau iaitu TROI (The Rise of Islam). Ok! FULLSTOP, diharapkan program ini menjadi ingatan bersama.

Bercerita tentang lecturers Audio, serius lecturers saya sangat BEST and AWESOME. Love them so much. Semester 1 2011/2012, kami kehilangan lecturer untuk subjek Language Development. Yes, she’s very dedicated person. Miss Azrita. I’ll remember her for the rest of my life as audio student. After the mid-term break, she said to all of me that she’ll leave us and further her studies to UK (x silaplaa…). We are happy for her but we are very sad to berpisah dengannya.
We had a party for her. I hope one day we can see her again. I love her very much. Thank you because you are such a good lecturer, tetap mengajar untuk memberi kefahaman kepada kami. I had made a video for her as a present for her, hope she will remember all of us.

Bercerita tentang 6A1D, ikatan ukhuwwah kami semakin hari semakin rapat.
I love all of them.

That’s all from me.

With lots of love,
